Get the distance between 2 Parts in an Assembly

Will it be possible to determine the distance between 2 parts in an assembly? As an example, I would like to get the distance between 2 red housings shown in http://i67.tinypic.com/262bl1e.png (the length of the tube in mm).

The big problem it is not linear-measurement, I tried to study the sample from http://www.nxjournaling.com/content/extract-centerline-free-form-tube but still have no idea how to start.

Please provide some guidance and insights

If this is a parameterized model, you can use the "measure length" command and select the curves that make up the wire between the two red housings.

If this is not a parameterized model, then the "extract centerline" journal that you link to is probably a good start. Extract the curves from the wire between the housings then perform the "measure length" on them.

First, I appreciate your help. For parameterized model, can we automate this process? Just an example, if I am select an housing, it will auto show all of the length from this housings to all other housing?

It probably won't be easy, but I don't see any technical reason as to make it impossible.

Do you use the "routing" application in NX? If so, these lengths may already be calculated and accounted for...

It is very new to NX (this is my 3rd day) - my job will not be involved in design process but I will need to review a lot of NX files (I am making career change - technically I have not started my new job yet so I just look around for some ideas) that why I look into programming and how it will help my job easier.

The files I review do not include the routing information.
