Import spreadsheet contents to NX drafting table

Hi,

I have a requirement to import contents from a spreadsheet into a table in NX drafting. Can it be done with a NX Open program? Please guide.

Thanks,
Aditya

It can be done without a program.

  • Create a new tabular note, drop it on your drawing
  • Right click on the tabular note and choose "edit with spreadsheet". This will open a blank spreadsheet.
  • Open the spreadsheet that contains the data. Copy & paste the data to the tabular note spreadsheet
  • Close the tabular note spreadsheet; NX will prompt you to update the note with the current changes. Select 'yes', the spreadsheet will close and the tabular note will update.

Thanks for the response..Is there any way it can be done with a program...Basically the table will hold a BoM (from NX model) with some additional comments.I am able to generate the format in a spreadsheet..was wondering if it can be extended to the drafting sheet.

Cheers,
Aditya

Yes, you should be able to read a spreadsheet and duplicate the information in an NX tabular note. Note that the resulting "BOM" in NX will not be associative. If associativity is important, I'd suggest adding the comments as attributes to the corresponding components and adding those attributes to the NX parts list.
